Bamboo toilet paper is a great sustainable option to be friendlier to the planet as bamboo is naturally fast growing and rapidly renewable; it only needs harvesting once a year and requires no tending, irrigation or fertilisation and it is fantastic at absorbing CO2.
It comes in 6 different black and white patterns which will really give your bathroom the wow factor, and have we mentioned how wonderfully super soft it is?
The bamboo toilet paper is 3-ply and being wrapped in tissue paper means you get 370 sheets of nothing but glorious natural ingredients and absolutely no plastic.
50% of all profits from Who Gives a Crap products go to charity partners who do the vital work of building toilets and improving sanitation in developing countries.
We feel like this needs no explanation!
Bamboo with recycled paper packaging
Rather than being made from cutting down trees which are such a finite resource, Bamboo is technically a grass and grows back very quickly after it is harvested once a year. It requires no tending, irrigation or fertilisation. As well as this, bamboo absorbs 2x more carbon dioxide than trees, which is why they are known to act as carbon sinks. It also generates a vast amount of oxygen, totalling up to 30% more than most plants and trees.
The bamboo used in this bamboo toilet paper is predominantly grown in remote areas of Sichuan Province in China by farmers who plant bamboo on the outskirts of their family farms to supplement their income. It means that unlike industrial agriculture, no vast areas of land are cleared in the harvesting process. The processing of it is kept very localised and each village has their own factory.
The toilet rolls are all individually wrapped in tissue paper which keeps them moisture-free and hygienic and it means they don’t have to use thicker paper. The net paper used (by weight) to wrap a 6 pack in heavy duty paper vs. six individual rolls in the thin tissue paper is effectively the same, they are then packaged into recycled cardboard boxes. Being entirely plastic free means they reduce the already massive demand on the plastic production and recycling plants.
Who Gives a Crap ensures they build and maintain a sustainable business model which delivers quality and environmentally responsible products at competitive prices. It allows them to focus on their bigger goal which is to build toilets and improve sanitation in developing countries- they do this by donating 50% of their profits to their charity partners who carry out the vital work. They also use sea freight to distribute their goods rather than flying it around the world.
