Say goodbye to plastic sponges and replace them with these sponges made from wood pulp (plant cellulose). They contain no plastic whatsoever and are easily and safely compostable and readily biodegradable at the end of their life.
Impressively they can absorb up to 10 times their weight and can be used time and time again. The compostable sponges have been dyed using FDA organic pigment, this is safe to use, non-synthetic, vegan friendly and plastic free. They have been dyed yellow as natural sponges would discolour more easily resulting in them likely being thrown away sooner.
Made from wood pulp and dyed with an FDA organic pigment called YELLOW 3R.
Normal sponges are made from polyester and nylon which are not recyclable at the end of life. Small pieces fall off almost every time you use the sponge, washing micro plastics and other materials straight down our drains into our water systems, these micro plastics then stay in the ocean forever. By switching to a compostable sponge made from natural ingredients, no harm is done to our world's water when you do your washing up and they don’t end up in landfill either.
The sponges are 100% plastic free and are vegan friendly. They are shipped via sea freight to minimise the carbon footprint of each product and to help offset the CO2, for each and every item that is purchased, Zero Waste Club plants a tree.
Zero Waste Club are intent on ensuring good incomes for anyone creating their products, as well as good working conditions. The sponges are produced in Yancheng City, Jiangsu province in China. The minimum wage in the state is 1,830 RMB per month, the team who make these sponges are paid above this at 2,100 RMB per month.
