These compostable food bags are made from cornstarch which breaks down within months rather than it’s plastic alternative, making them perfect for your home food caddy. They will even break down in your home compost; eliminating the need to use a plastic bag in your to store your food scraps.
At 43cm x 46cm they are the perfect size, and they are extra strong with a gathered base, ensuring no nasty leaks lurking in the bottom of your bin!
Please use the compostable food bags within a year, after this time they will start to disintegrate and break down. If this happens, simply pop them into your compost bin or food bin.
Whereas plastic bin liners can have a devastating impact on the environment as they remain in landfill forever, the factory who creates these compostable food bags do not use any single-use plastic in the production process. Water based ink is used when printing the film, any waste ink water then gets processed and is recycled and reused whenever possible. If there is no more ink which can be recovered, the waste water gets treated and then reused in the next round of printing in a fully closed loop system.
Zero Waste Club are intent on ensuring good incomes for anyone creating their products. These compostable food bags are made in the Guangdong Province in China and the artisans who make them are paid over the minimum wage at 1,800 RMB per month rather than 1,720 RMB per month.
The bags are shipped via sea freight to minimise the carbon footprint and for each and every item that is purchased, Zero Waste Club plant a tree to help offset carbon emissions.
UK deliveries are £3.95 or free for all orders over £50, and will be with you within 3 – 5 working days. We’ll email you when your order is on the way, with a link to track your delivery with DPD. Unfortunately we don’t ship outside of the UK, yet.
