Not only is the wooden dish brush 100% plastic-free making it a sustainable way to do the dishes, but the plant-based head can be easily removed and replaced when it has worn out, meaning you are cutting down on waste by not having to buy an entirely new brush.
The dish brushes have been handmade in Germany; the handle is made from locally-grown FSC-certified sustainable beech wood and the bristles from Tampico which is a robust fibre from a cactus. Not only does this mean the brush has great water-retaining properties, but it is also resistant and hardwearing and keeps its shape without softening.
Total length with head: 24cm. approx.
Length of handle: 16cm
Brush Head diameter: 4cm
Please allow the brush to dry completely in between uses.
To change the head:
When the brush head has worn out, simply remove it and place it in your compost or your garden waste bin (if your local authority allows it) and replace it with a new dish brush replacement head.
The handle should last you for years, but if you do need to dispose of it, it can also be placed in your compost once the metal fittings have been removed. The metal fittings can then be recycled.
The handle is made from FSC® certified beech wood with Tampico fibre bristles
Plastic washing up brushes release plastic fibres and microplastics when they are used, these inevitably get washed down our drains, eventually polluting our oceans and being eaten by marine life. By switching to a washing-up brush made from natural materials such as this wooden dish brush, not only do you cut out the microplastics, but thanks to the brush being compostable you are also cutting out more plastic brushes ending up in landfill.
The handle is made from FSC® certified sustainable beech wood meaning that it comes from a forest which is managed in a responsible and sustainable way and both the wood and manufacturer have met the requirements of the Forest Stewardship Council. FSC use their expertise to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests and prohibit deforestation, forest degradation and illegal logging in certified areas.
ecoLiving work closely with all of their suppliers to manufacture responsibly. They are committed to doing the least amount of harm to the environment, they are carbon neutral and they plant trees through the Eden Reforestation Projects. This goes some way to help the fight against deforestation, to help encourage agroforestry and helping to reduce extreme poverty through the employment of local villagers.
ecoLiving is a member of 1% for the Planet, a global network of businesses, nonprofits and individuals who work together to accomplish a healthy planet. The idea is that companies donate 1% of their annual sales through a membership scheme, the money is then distributed to approved environmentally focused non-profit organisations. More than $175 Million dollars have been given back to the environment so far.
